Policies
QIC Policy
Summary
QIC is responsible for determining policies from time to time to address irrigation issues in Queensland and nationally. The QIC Irrigation Policy provides a comprehensive outline of the policies of the Council and its members.
QIC hopes the policy will encourage discussion and debate on issues affecting irrigation so that policies can be adjusted, updated or extended to reflect the current views of the members of QIC.
QIC members are encouraged to submit issues and policy proposals for the consideration of State Council.
Principles
Please note that our irrigation policy is currently being reviewd, items on the following principles will be uploaded as soon as they become available.
Security and Certainty
- Irrigators have rights to access water and other natural resources. The economic and social impacts of any erosion of these rights should be shared with the wider community and not fall solely on irrigators and their dependant communities.
- Irrigators’ rights of access to and use of water and other natural resources must be well defined and secured over the longer term.
